Sony Hints At PlayStation First-Party Game Delays In Latest Financial Report

Sony Interactive Entertainment has hinted in its latest financial report that a number of first-party PlayStation games lined up for the latter half of FY23 have been delayed.

A section of the console maker’s Q1 earnings report features forecast for the remainder of the fiscal year ended March 31, 2024, among which includes a negative bullet point for “impact of changes in the launch dates of a portion of first-party titles.” Positives include decreased spending and the increased sales of DLC and third-party games.

As such, this suggests that some first-party games were delayed beyond their original dates, although Sony doesn’t specifically name-drop any titles. Possible candidates include The Last of Us multiplayer project, which has been keeping a low profile as of late, but that’s just speculation.

Speaking of first-party games, we at least know that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has a solid release date of October 20 for PS5. Hopefully Sony has a few surprises for the rest of the year, but we won’t know for sure until it hosts its next PlayStation Showcase.
